elliv (the 'ville spelled backwards)

We're taking the "ville," hanging it upside down, shaking it out for all its worth this year, celebrating 2007 -2008. We're laughing, relaxing, and enjoying Cedarville in the biggest event of the year.

Elliv sprang to life in the winter of 1999, when a group of SGA officers decided to showcase the best videos of the year. They concocted a low-budget event vaguely reminiscent of the Academy Awards to commend talented student filmmakers. The show was scripted and simplistic; the acts were unpolished, and the investment was small.

Elliv did not return the following year; in 2002, however, SGA sponsored the event again. This time, the show morphed quickly from haphazard homage to complex, innovative awards extravaganza. Since then, elliv has grown to recognize students with a variety of creative skills, ranging from film and music to athletics and art.

This year, elliv promises to flood Cedarville with lights and sounds and celebration, but the SGA officers have also made some big changes to elliv this year. Some might say that elliv simply outgrew itself, but the root of these changes really came from the student body's desire to see SGA focus their resources on something worthwhile.

Instead spending big bucks on special effects and extravagant showstoppers, SGA is focusing on quality this year — with an even larger portion of the show being designed and run by students. A light show like you've never seen, impeccably choreographed dance numbers, music that takes your breath away, hilarious videos, and witty hosts will keep this year's elliv as entertaining as ever, all while keeping elliv from ballooning out of proportion.
